Nutrient Dense Beef

Nutrient-Dense Beef

As we all know, meat is not made equal! What we have here is Nutrient Dense Beef that is far superior to anything you could find in the stores. We all want to feed our family the best food available, but at what cost?

Do you realize exactly what your getting when you buy beef from any grocery store, or where that money goes? Rest assured, money is not going into your local economy. And what may look good in the food counter is not all it’s cracked up to be! Most of all beef from stores is more than likely grain-fed.

Cows from stores are ones that were previously confined to feedlots and given a diet of grain and other supplements. We’ve all heard the terms “corn fed beef”, “conventional beef” or “grain fed beef.” This in layman’s terms means the cows are getting stuffed with water and other fillers. In fact, this causes detriment to the quality of the beef they render to us, the consumers.

So basically, you haven’t the foggiest idea of where that beef is coming from and what it may or may not have been fed. And, this is truly a sorry state of affairs which could certainly jeopardize our health unknowingly. So as they say BUYERS BEWARE!

On the other hand, when you purchase your beef directly from a farm, you can pretty much rest assured that it received the best quality food possible. Usually they are left to roam in a specific area free to graze on grasses. There they will receive all the natural nutrients they need from nature and are not stuffed with God Knows What!

The quality of the beef far surpasses anything you can buy in the stores, which charges an exorbitant amount of money for a much more inferior product.

If cost was not a factor, my preference is to buy a whole cow or even a half a side and split the cost with some one else. Although the cost at one time can seem pretty high, compare that to what you spend weekly, monthly and yearly for inferior beef in the store and you will certainly see the benefit of going a different direction on this. You ultimately would have the cost of purchasing the cow, a butcher’s fee for preparing the beef the way you want and possibly a storage fee if you don’t have a large freezer. Then you can just pick it up as you need it.

The butcher would then cut your meat to your specifications, whether it be steaks, chop meat, ribs or roasts. This may cost a little more, but as far as I’m concerned it is well worth it. Going this route you get much better quality and healthier beef to feed your family. Even a side would last a family of 2 at least 6 months if not a year. If the cost of doing this seems prohibitive, just split the cost with someone else and both families will save a ton of money for better quality beef.

Roughly the cost per pound of beef in the store goes anywhere from $6 to $17 per pound or more. Here’s an example for you: “Now estimate that a family of 4 will need at least 892 pounds of meat for a year. They would average approximately 232 pounds of beef, 209 pounds of pork, 64 pounds of turkey and 385 pounds of chicken. Cost from the store for that amount of poundage is going to run over $14,000 total for the year.

Now lets say we get 520 lbs. of beef from our 800 lbs of hanging weight steer, and it figures out to $85/520 so roughly $.016 per pound of beef for slaughter, i.e., $832.00.” That is certainly a lot less than what it would cost otherwise, so you’d be saving over $13,000 on beef and other meat alone for the year, Amazing!
